Team History

On that epic day of March 13th, 2006 a friend of Robert Gale got him to go to Crossfire Paintball Park in Fort Myers for his kid’s birthday party. Robert's life took a new direction. As he says, “I was hooked” immediately on the sport. Soon after he and his buddies began playing a woods-ball setup that was also similar to a speedball / hyper ball setup. After spending some time getting the basic knowledge of the game, they began to invest money. Soon they had new and improved markers, better head gear, better equipment overall. Their first stop would be West Coast Alternative Sports. The owner, Keith, was a wealth of information and has been involved in paintball for many years. After getting Rob and his crew squared away with equipment, he told them about a paintball field in the area, Oasis Paintball Park (previously Extreme Rage), and began giving him insights on the tournament scene of paintball. Rob took Keith's advice and decided to go to the field and check it out, and he’ll tell ya, he was even more HOOKED, but now on an airball field. At the end of the first day, he began planning his move to the other side of paintball, speedball. Rob and his cousin Jason began the paintball team "Nightmare crew". They posted flyers all over Lehigh Acres, FL. After some time and rough play, they began recruiting players and solicitating coaching advice. After weeding out some people here and there, Rob and Jay had a team put together and thought about jersey designs. After creating a template of their design, they began to refine and customize. They figured if you’re going to play as a team, you should want to look like a team as well. Now came the next phase, the team dedication. While some of the Nightmare Crew players were unable to dedicate and commit themselves 100%, the rest didn’t get held back. Rob began his search of new players that had the drive and the heart to play tournament paintball. After a few months of solid practicing, roster changes, and grueling drills, the team decided to put themselves in an SPCS tournament at Central Florida Paintball in Lakeland, Fl., in the Beginner Bracket. Their hard work paid off, as they made it to the finals with an honorable 4th place finish out of 13 teams attending. After this event came more practice and a strive for perfection. This meant more drills, more practice, and more dedication. Shortly after the event, the search continued for more experienced and committed players, and with luck, a few were picked up. Now the team is complete with seasoned and experienced players who appreciate and value the sport. The Nightmare Crew is a committed and solid tournament paintball team.
